It's Friday. Ask any fitness question you have from, workouts to nutrition to supplements to cardio routines to something you've read to something you've heard to equipment suggestions to fitness programs to whatever. The lines are open and operators are waiting. . .
Question: At first glance....it appears a rower is the best full body cardio machine. Is it? If not, why?

ReplyDeleteGreat question. Rowing is a good piece of cardio equipment pretty much involving the whole body. However, don't get too caught up in the "conditioning" results promised with any piece of cardio equipment. "Cardio" refers to your heart. Cardio equipment primarily conditions the heart so the real benefit from any piece of cardio equipment is going to be to your heart. This deserves a full blog.
ReplyDeleteSo the wife is doing the P90X, mainly because her trainer left us. The program came with a food guide as well as the work out, and it's got a bunch of crap in it that we just don't eat. I say "we" because if she's dieting, then I'm dieting.
ReplyDeleteSo the book calls for some sort of fish for dinner three to four times a week. What's a good subsitution for fish? The diet does call for chicken and turkey here and there, but fish is apparently the protein super star.
The book also calls for egg whites. Can you tell me what the incredible difference between the egg yellows and whites? And is it REALLY all that important to seperate them?
My last question is simply this: If we avoid processed foods, eating veggies and lean meats that we make at home, along with our exerscize, isn't that enough?
Thanks Tim!
Q1. The push for all the fish is because of all the good fats (Omega 3s). So I'd say that any lean meat is a fine substitute as long as your taking a product like this: http://astore.amazon.com/fittrueblog-20/detail/B000FFQATA
ReplyDeleteQ2. Some trainers are big fans of dumping egg yolks because they have a lot of saturated fats. I am a fan of the whole egg because of this book:

If you choose to not dump the yolks then cut out some fat which I'm sure he has you consuming
Q3. I think it certainly can be.
